New York Times bestselling author and Flagstaff resident Kevin Fedarko will discuss his new book, “A Walk in the Park: The True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon,” on Thursday, Sept. 12, at NAU’s Cline Library Assembly Hall beginning at 7 p.m.
At this free public event, Fedarko will share details of his year-long, 750-mile odyssey on foot through the heart of the Grand Canyon and what it taught him about the urgent need to preserve America’s great natural wonders.
Fedarko is a seasoned author and journalist who is renowned for his exploration of the American Southwest and his fervent advocacy for environmental conservation. Previously, he worked as a staff writer at Time, where he covered foreign affairs, and as a senior editor at Outside, where he covered outdoor adventure. His writing has also appeared in National Geographic, The New York Times and Esquire, among other publications. He and his wife, Bright Side Bookshop co-owner Annette Avery, live in Flagstaff and spend their free time hiking at the Grand Canyon and the San Francisco Peaks.
The special event at NAU is sponsored by the Honors College and Cline Library and is free to the NAU and Flagstaff communities. Copies of “A Walk in the Park” will be available for purchase, and Fedarko will stay after the talk and Q&A for a book signing.
