NAU is kind of a home away from home. It’s not too far, but also not too close. It’s beautiful. When I met the people and the faculty were just extremely welcoming. It was definitely place I wanted to be and develop as a person and grow as an educator, but also as a student and somebody who can take music and keep going with it and see what I can do with it in future.

I have the ability to influence the 25 students who sit with me in each class to engage. That is a lot of responsibility, and I don’t want to squander it. I want to be sure that students come out knowing how to do an audience analysis, which is important, but also how to connect with people.
