Student grounded by roots, community

AIS Applied Indigenous Studies award CAL Foundation minors in Museum Studies and Anthropology SBS

Autumn Begay, ’22, found her home away from home at NAU’s Native American Cultural Center (NACC).

Autumn Begay, who majored in Applied Indigenous Studies with minors in Museum Studies and Anthropology, built a community at the NACC through mentoring students, connecting with Indigenous scholars, and establishing lifelong friendships. Clubs and other extracurricular activities also helped the Navajo student develop a strong support network. Begay plans to become a museum curator so she can share Navajo culture and customs, focusing on language and food sovereignty.
