Each summer, NAU undergraduate and graduate students join researchers studying the Alaska tundra.

These students are conducting field research into how global warming affects carbon locked in the Alaskan permafrost. Through this experience students are able to apply skills they learned in the classroom to hands-on research. As Regents’ Professor Ted Schuur explains, “There’s a whole world out here for exploration, and students get to be a part of that.”
