Safe Working and Learning Environment

This policy has been archived and superseded by the new
interim Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment policy.

In accordance with federal and state statutory and decisional law, Northern Arizona University prohibits illegal discrimination and harassment, works to inform individuals of their right to be free from such behaviors, and promotes the safety of all at University sites and activities. This policy applies to students, staff, faculty, administrators, contractors, vendors, visitors, residents, and guests. The purpose of this policy is to: 

  • prevent discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, gender identity, and genetic information; 
  • prevent sexual harassment, sexual assault, and other forms of prohibited harassment;
  • support those affected by such prohibited behaviors while preventing retaliation against those who seek information, assistance, or resolution in this regard; and 
  • provide for appropriate disciplinary sanctions up to and including termination or expulsion for those who intentionally or otherwise practice, promote, or condone such prohibited behavior.
