What are the minimum qualifications? Accordion Closed
- You must have a minimum semester and cumulative grade point average of 2.00 at the time of the application.
- You must be enrolled in 12-18 credits (or 9-15 graduate credits).
- You must maintain a minimum 67% pace of progress.
- You must be available for the full academic year (2022-2023) at the NAU Flagstaff mountain campus.
- You must be a full time student and have completed at least 24 credit hours (from NAU or another institution) by the end of the semester prior to beginning the role.
Do I have to live on campus while working in the CLIPP position? Accordion Closed
No, you do not have to live on campus to be a CLIPP.
Can I still be considered for the position if I haven’t lived on campus before? Accordion Closed
You are welcome to apply even if you haven’t lived on campus, however, all things considered equal, priority will be given to students who have lived on campus for at least one semester.
What is the time commitment for the position? Accordion Closed
The position is an academic-year position from August 2022 – May 2023. CLIPPs work an average of 15 hours per week while classes are in session. Some weeks may vary based on the academic calendar, CLIP initiatives, student trends, and departmental needs. During peak times such as fall opening, CLIPPs will work additional hours. CLIPPs will need to be available on Wednesdays from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm for staff meetings.
Can I have another job while I am in the CLIPP position? Accordion Closed
Yes, but some hours may be limited.
Due to the nature of the CLIPP position, it is essential for the CLIPP to maintain balance between classes and extracurricular activities, serve as academic role models and be available to support the students in the Campus Living Community. To accomplish that, the following guidelines apply:
- The CLIPP role has priority over other activities with the exception of academic work.
- CLIPPs may be employed in part-time jobs outside of the position for up to a total of fifteen (15) hours/week based on performance and supervisor approval.
- On-campus student employees may work up to 30 total/combined hours/week when classes are in session and up to 40 hours per week during winter and spring breaks or summer session. Exceptions apply for Minors or International students based on Visa status. For those with Federal Work Study, it is recommended that you do not exceed 20 hours per week in total.
- Activities and employment outside of the CLIPP position must be discussed and approved with the supervising CLIP GA at the beginning of each semester and/or prior to adding an activity.
Can I apply for the Community Assistant (CA) position, Campus Living Operations Assistant (CLOA), and the CLIPP position? Accordion Closed
Yes, you can apply for the CA, CLOA, and CLIPP positions. Each selection process is separate but candidates are notified at the same time. Once you are offered positions, you will need to choose because you cannot hold multiple student positions in Housing and Residence Life at the same time.
How much will I get paid? Accordion Closed
$15.00 per hour.
What is the training required for the position? Accordion Closed
- August 2022 Training – held during the two weeks prior to classes beginning. The training schedule generally operates from 8:00am-5:00pm. (There may be a few evening commitments during this period of time as well. During fall move-in CLIPPS will assist with the Welcome Jack student move-in assistance program the week prior to classes beginning.
- Ongoing training and professional development sessions will be planned and held throughout the semester.
- January 2023 Training – held the week prior to spring classes beginning.
