  • a microphone
  • headphones
  • headphones and microphone in one piece are especially useful
  • speakers
  • webcam to interact with professors and classmates (optional)

To make your experience as stress-free as possible, make sure you have the minimum software:

MS Office suite

  • Word
  • Excel
  • Power Point

  • Publisher
  • Access

The Northern Arizona University Bookstore offers a reduced price on the MS Office suite. Another option is to download the free, compatible Open Office suite.

Macromedia Dreamweaver for your HTML editing

If you can’t afford Dreamweaver, ask permission from your instructor to use the similar but free program KompoZer.

Some courses may require different software programs.

Your professors will provide you with a list of required textbooks when you enroll in classes.

In addition, you are expected to use the  latest version of the American Psychology Association (APA) Style throughout the entire program of studies. You can locate a book or manual that details APA Style on the web or in a bookstore.
