USGS award to study Colorado River riparian vegetation
Dr. Teki Sankey was awarded a $244,800 grant from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for a project titled “Riparian Remote Sensing and Mapping Along the Colorado River for Monitoring and Invasive Species Research.” This work will develop a partnership between USGS and NAU to address questions of mutual interest related to mapping and monitoring vegetation and landcover within the riparian zone of the Colorado River.
Keck award for informatics education
Dr. John Georgas, with collaborators Dr. Chris Doughty, Dr. Crystal Hepp, and Dr. James Palmer, was awarded a $325,000 grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation for a project titled “Increasing Participation in Undergraduate Informatics Education and Research.” This work will fund the introduction of informatics learning opportunities for NAU students of all backgrounds through project- and research-based coursework.
