Student resource guide

Provided by NAU’s Department of Psychological Sciences

This resource guide was developed based on the results of the student outreach survey sent to students enrolled in courses offered by the Department of Psychological Sciences at the end of the Fall 2020 semester. The goal of this project is to provide students with information about needed resources. All of the listed resources are available to all students unless noted otherwise.

If you need additional help email student.outreach@nau.edu. This email address is monitored by graduate students in the Department of Psychological Sciences and is intended to help students connect with needed resources.

Located in Eastburn Education, currently most sessions held via zoom. Offers free counseling sessions for both undergraduate and graduate students (from Master’s and PhD students under supervision).


COVID-19 Quarantine & Isolation Drop-in Support Group

Free virtual support group through Campus Health Services. Weekly meetings Friday 2pm–3pm. Talk with professionals and peers about your experiences.


NAU Counseling Services

Services include: individual counseling and psychotherapy; consultation to parents, faculty, staff, and students; referrals to private and public mental health services; group therapy; 24- hour emergency crisis intervention; outreach/training to NAU community, and psychiatric intervention & referral

Flagstaff Family Food Center: Food Bank

9am–1pm Tuesday-Saturday

Food boxes available between 9am–1pm Tuesday-Saturday. Individuals and families can receive food boxes twice per month as supplies allow.

Currently offering home deliveries of food boxes to anyone in need. Whether you are home-bound due to physical or mental illness, have a sick or high-risk member of your household, or are simply continuing to “shelter in place” for a while longer, we are able to deliver food boxes to anyone in need. Please call our office at 928-526-2211 to schedule a delivery.

The Pantry

Provides funding to assist currently enrolled NAU students facing unforeseen crises or hardships that require immediate one-time financial assistance.

Year-round emergency shelter and services for any adult experiencing homelessness. Additional day drop-in services available, including access to showers, food, clothing, hygiene products, and on-site nursing clinic (M-Th).

A non-profit, volunteer run clinic providing free medical care to Coconino County’s low-income, uninsured population.

Academic Success Center

Information about different types of tutoring available to students for a variety of classes. Supplemental instruction, academic support, and test prep resources.


Long-term Laptop Loan Program

Available through Cline Library. Eligible students receive a Dell laptop to use for the entire academic year. Students complete an application process to be considered based on individual circumstances/financial need.


Office of the Dean of Students

Course materials assistance program: emergency textbook loan for $300 credit to the NAU bookstore.

Lumberjack emergency assistance fund: one time grant up to $500 for unforeseen financial hardships.

Student case management services. Childcare voucher program.

Diversity and inclusion resources Accordion Closed

Center for University Access and Inclusion

Purpose: A hub for coordinating diversity and inclusion efforts. Commissions on Ethnic Diversity, Status of Women, Native Americans, Disability Access and Design, LGBTQIA.


Disability Resources Office

Virtual intake, registration, and consulting appointments.

Examples of services/accommodations provided include priority registration, access to assistive technology devices and software, collaboration with the office of housing and residence life in provision of housing accommodations, distraction reduced testing center, time extensions on exams and quizzes, print matter in alternate format, note-taking, communication access real-time translation, sign language interpreting.


Equity and Access Office

Ensures affirmative action in employment, non-discrimination and harassment, equal opportunity, accessibility, and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Can submit formal and informal complaints and are available for consultation to discuss complaint options. Can request an accommodation for classes.


NAU Student Outreach and Support (SOS)

Student assistance program providing students with resources for situations such as hospitalization, medical emergencies or long-term illness, death of a family member, mental health concerns, chronic conditions, natural disasters. Connects students with campus and community resources.


Office of Inclusion

Supports cultural, gender, and sexuality diversity. List of diversity related clubs and organizations. Gender-inclusive restroom map and housing information. Resources for DACA. Information on diversity related services and trainings.

Title IX

Protection from discrimination based on sex in any educational program or activity. Institutional supportive measures and remedies: Mutual no-contact orders, changes to on-campus housing assignments, temporary emergency housing, modifications of work, class or activity schedules, academic adjustments. Reporting options – Administrative reports, criminal incident reports, confidential reporting. Information on law and policy.
