The Department of Psychological Sciences is pleased to announce the recipients of two of its awards available to students in the Master of Arts in Psychological Sciences degree program.
Vicki Green Psychological Sciences Thesis Award
This scholarship is endowed by Vicki Green, Ph.D., a department faculty member from 1995 to 2005, and now a faculty emeritus. There are two recipients of this scholarship.
Morgan Jernigan, a second-year student in the program, is conducting research designed to increase the field’s understanding of how mass media and social media reporting of mass shootings and school shootings predict negative emotional reactions within the general public. Sara Kien, Ph.D., is her thesis chair.
Sergio Pineda, is a second-year student in the program who is exploring the frequency and content of prospection and their potential effects on behavior. Michael Alban, Ph.D., is his thesis chair.
Max de Montel Williamson Memorial Graduate Psychology Research Award
This scholarship is endowed by the family of Max Williamson, a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Psychological Sciences degree program who enriched the lives of many at NAU before his untimely death.
Jocelyn Robles Aguirre, a first-year student in the program, whose thesis project seeks to extend current research by exploring how cultural differences affect the perception of support from both spouse and supervisor. Ann Huffman, Ph.D., is her thesis chair.
