Dr. Carroll’s research focuses on the social revision of possible and core selves and the ultimate consequences of those identity revisions for mental health. Carroll earned the 2009 and 2016 Outstanding University Scholar awards for this work. He is a member of the elected Society of Experimental Social Psychology and has served as an editorial consultant for several journals and served as co-associate editor for a special issue of Basic and Applied Social Psychology. His work has been featured on national and international outlets and programs, including the “Mindshift” site of national public radio.
