Ann Huffman, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences and serves as the Associate Chair for Research and Scholarship. In addition, she is a Professor of Management within the WA Franke College of Business. To those honorifics is added “Fellow of the American Psychological Association.” This prestigious honor is bestowed “upon APA members who have shown evidence of unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in the field of psychology. Fellow status requires that a person’s work has had a national impact on the field of psychology beyond a local, state or regional level.” Dr. Huffman’s primary research interests include environmental sustainability issues, work–life interface, high stress occupations (e.g., police, military), and diversity in the workplace. She has published widely in scholarly journals related to these topics and coauthored the book, “Green Organizations: Driving Change With IO Psychology.” Dr. Huffman was instrumental in developing the Psychology Scholarship and Teaching Exchange Program (PsychSTEP) program to support Northern Arizona University’s strategic goal of Global Engagement. PsychSTEP facilitates faculty and graduate student relationships between psychological scientists at NAU and University of Groningen (RuG) in the Netherlands. She recently served as Chair of the Board of Convention Affairs of the American Psychological Association (APA), a group responsible for planning and executing the organization’s annual convention. In addition to making significant contributions to the psychological sciences at the university, national, and international levels, Dr. Huffman continues to provide support and mentorship to individual students and colleagues. Her efforts in supporting the success of undergraduate students through mentorship, assisting with securing grant funds to conduct research, providing opportunities for contributing to publications, and assisting with applications to graduate programs, were recognized by the university when she was awarded the 2021 NAU Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Inquiry. The Department of Psychological Sciences congratulates Dr. Huffman for being named a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.
