Theresa is Assistant Clinical Professor with the NAUTeach program at the CSTL. She started as a mentor teacher for NAUTeach while also teaching middle and high school mathematics here in Flagstaff. She has a B.S. in Education from Central Michigan University and a M.Ed. with a Technology Emphasis from Lesley University. In 2017, she received her National Board Certification in Mathematics/Early Adolescence. Let’s meet Theresa!
How long have you been at the CSTL?
3 years
What are you currently working on and why is it important?
I am currently working on coursework towards earning my doctorate and starting the process to renew my National Board Certification for Teaching. I am also doing some research with colleagues from NAU to analyze preservice teachers’ views of math.
Is a hot dog a sandwich and why or why not?
I think by definition it meets the standards of a sandwich but I don’t walk in to a sandwich shop and expect to see a hot dog on the menu.
If you could take 3 items to a remote island what would they be?
I would take a pot to cook in and collect water, a large knife that could cut small branches for wood and food, and a fishing pole to catch food.
What is your superpower?
Having eyes and ears that can see and hear everything that is happening. I think this is a trait of all teachers though!
Thanks Theresa!
