CSTL Library

The library is open during regular business hours, M-F, 8-5pm. To check out CSTL library items, you must be enrolled as a CSTL library patron. To enroll as a library patron, visit room 210 of the Science Annex building (building #20) during regular business hours and complete a brief library patron form.

If you are on a NAU computer, you can search our online library database.

* We cannot reserve or hold library items.

Contact Carrie Dunham at (928) 523-4193 or CSTLMaterials@nau.edu with questions about the CSTL library.

Kits

The CSTL partners with the Coconino County Education Service Agency (CCESA) and Flagstaff STEM City to lend STEM learning materials to teachers in the Flagstaff area.  We have several original Full Option Science System (FOSS) kits (first and second edition) for elementary and middle school grades and 2 Engineering is Elementary (EiE) kits for elementary grades available to loan.  NAU faculty and Flagstaff area teachers may check out a kit for up to 120 days.

* Please note: The kits available for loan must be adapted to meet the new Arizona Science Standards.

Kit Loan List

Solar Energy Accordion Closed

Subject: FOSS

Recommended Grade Level: Grades 5 & 6

Kit: 2 boxes

Levers and Pulleys Accordion Closed

Subject: FOSS

Recommended Grade Level: Grades 5 & 6

Consists of four investigations that involve students in fundamental concepts of simple machines.

Kit: 1 box plus box of extra materials

Physics of Sound Accordion Closed

Subject: FOSS

Recommended Grade Level: Grades 3 & 4

Consists of four sequential investigations. They provide opportunities for students to explore the natural and human-made worlds by observing and manipulating materials in focused settings using simple tools.

Kit: 2 boxes, plus other loose pieces

Human Body Accordion Closed

Subject: FOSS

Recommended Grade Level: Grades 3 & 4

Engages students in thoughtful activities about the form and function of a most remarkable machine, their own body. (Activity topics: Bones, Joints, Muscles, Stimulus/Response)

Kit: 1 box

Ideas and Inventions Accordion Closed

Subject: FOSS

Recommended Grade Level: Grades 3 & 4

Consists of four sequential investigations that promote student creativity and inventiveness. Each investigation provides valuable science content while introducing a conventional technique for revealing the unseen.
