Meet Sean Ryan, Professional Development Coordinator/Research Associate at the Center.
Sean serves as the Principal Investigator or Senior Personnel on several grants that focus on STEM Education for K-20, data management, and community engagement projects. He graduated from the University of Arizona in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering and worked as an educator for FUSD for many years before joining the Center. His expertise is in citizen science and STEM Education as demonstrated by his current grant work and publications. We recently talked with Sean about his work at the Center.
How long have you been at the CSTL?
5 years
What are you currently working on and why is it important?
I have been focused on a project called FEWSION for Community Resilience that uses systems thinking, data visualization, and community engagement to try to promote community dialogue and actions that build resilience. I am just about to jump into the next chapter of a NASA funded project called PLANETS that combines planetary science and engineering for 3rd-8th graders, and continue to support robotics and technology education.
What is your superpower?
I have been told my superpower is patience, just keeping calm and steady. Like anything, this is a great strength that helps with listening and learning, but can be a weakness when a quick decision is needed.
