Bilingual Intervention and Language Learning Laboratory
The Bilingual Intervention and Language Learning (BILL) laboratory is led by Dr. Lindsey Hiebert, Ph.D., CCC-SLP and supported by graduate students in NAU’s Clinical Speech-Language Pathology program. The BILL Lab is conducting two research projects currently:
- The lab is researching types of errors in Spanish language sample transcripts that were collected over eight years along with Dr. Raúl Rojas at the University of Kansas.
- The lab also studies bilingual children ages 4-6 who have or are at risk for developmental language disorder (DLD). The study involves testing children and teaching caregivers how to support Spanish vocabulary and language development in the home using science activities and words.
The lab is currently seeking study participants who are Spanish-English bilingual children ages 4-6 in the Flagstaff or Yuma areas of Arizona.
