GSG statement on diversity
The Graduate Student Government (GSG) at Northern Arizona University takes pride in serving as a liaison and advocate for the needs and concerns of its student body. GSG, along with NAU, recognizes diversity as an integral component of achieving success through professional development, awareness and education, research, and retention of diverse students, staff, and faculty. Research supports diversity in the academic setting as a key component of increased creativity, innovation, and innovative problem-solving strategies. The Graduate Student Government (GSG) is here to increase awareness of campus climate issues and to celebrate and recognize the strength of diverse cultures, groups, and experiences. If you have any questions or would like to comment on ways to enrich your experience regarding diversity and inclusion, please do not hesitate to contact GSG@nau.edu.
GSG Statement on Climate Action
The Graduate Student Government (GSG) recognizes the need for climate change mitigation and adaptation at various scales, and we aim to amplify the voices of students demanding action at the university level. The College of the Environment, Forestry, and Natural Sciences has 260 graduate students enrolled and many students in other programs have a climate-based research focus, so we know that our graduate student body cares about environmental issues. As a higher-research institution, it is vital that we utilize the knowledge and expertise of our graduate student body to lead the way in environmental sustainability and climate action. If you have ideas about how to make NAU a more sustainable school or if you would like to get involved with the GSG Climate Action Committee (open to all graduate students), please reach out to Aden Stern, GSG Director of Climate Action, at as5862@nau.edu.
