  • Undergraduate Symposium: Why present

Symposium registration

Register to present at the 2024 Symposium starting February 1st. The deadline is March 15, 2024.

Why present at NAU’s Symposium?

Reason #1: Great networking

The Symposium is a wonderful place to network with your peers, faculty, and professionals in your field. Many people from industry visit the event looking for potential candidates, so it could lead to your next big opportunity.

Reason #2: Builds communication skills and deepens understanding of your field

Creating a poster or preparing a presentation builds on many skills. Explaining your project and responding to questions with people from different backgrounds helps build oral communication skills and deepens an understanding of your work.

Reason #3: Receive feedback

Conference presentations are an important part of professional development, and all presenters at NAU’s Symposium will receive valuable feedback on their work.

Reason #4: Opportunity to share findings

Presenting your work at the symposium gives you a chance to share your findings with other students, faculty, staff, and professionals in your field.

Reason #5: Valuable experience to highlight on applications or in your resume

Maybe you aren’t going into a research field, so you think that presenting at a research conference will not matter to potential employers or graduate schools.  Think again!  87% of employers say they are more likely to hire recent graduates if they have had research experience. Highlight your experience of presenting your work at a conference on your resume or graduate school application. Not sure what to say? Please visit Career Development for assistance including the Symposium in your resume.
