Senior Camp Blog

The activities of the weekend sparked the start of an incredible week two for senior campers. Some took a relaxing sojourn to one of the seven wonders of the world: the Grand Canyon. Others chose to decompress after a long week filled with music, passion, and excitement, by taking part in sports, card games, coloring, and more. The costume dance on Sunday proved to be one last hoorah to the weekend, before campers were again immersed in musical routine and preparation for the concerts at week’s end.
On Monday night, campers gathered in Ashurst Hall to watch the variety show, a display of the talent and creativity of their peers and counselors. Performers wowed with a diverse set of acts, including: musical theater, magic, comedy skits, and dancing! The audience roared with laughter and applause, and although they were sad when the show came to a close, it was a wonderful start to the final week of camp.
Tuesday was the counselor showcase. Campers, dressed in their best, filed into Kitt Recital Hall to watch the artistry and musicality of the camp counselors and senior staff members. The wide range in acts, from percussion duets to low brass ensembles and jazz combos, showed the incredible diversity of the staff, as well as their incredible aptitude for music. In the words of a camper named Sean, “that changed my life.”
Tomorrow is going to bring the Fourth of July and with it a lot of fun for our campers. They will be engaged in musical rehearsals throughout the day to prepare for Saturday’s concerts. Later on in the day they will gain a little more independence and will be able to choose between many different activities to spend the evening laughing and making memories with their friends.
We are looking forward to seeing our campers perform their final concerts on Saturday. Our concert schedule is as follows:
