The last few days of camp saw our campers comfortable with their daily groove. Some of our campers had a special night to plan for. After many rehearsals, food, and games the kids joined us at Ashurst Hall for our Junior Camp Variety Show. This talent show was open for anyone to audition for all sorts of talents. We had amazing instrumental groups, props to the soloists for their bravery. There were skits created and performed by all our counselors. We even had comedians laughing at their own jokes. The variety kept the night upbeat and fun, it was quite the talent show.
On the last full day of camp, run club kicked off with a 5k run! There were 20+ participants that pushed through starting at 5am. Throughout the day, our hard working ensembles had their turn practicing their dress rehearsals on stage. Kids constantly talked about how nervous but excited that they are to perform this for all their friends and family. In between rehearsals, there were plenty of activities to choose from. Between ultimate frisbee and watching movies, it was hard to stay in one place. But with all this playing also came hard work. We had our Camper Showcase to prepare for later that evening. The event included soloists that played their piece by memory, outstanding pieces sung by the choir, and a performance by all our percussionists. The honors soloists, such as Lillie H. on viola, left everyone in awe. We truly have some very talented young musicians. But alas to end the night, the cleaning and packing commences before lights out. Kate G. expressed how sad she was that such a fun week went by so quickly, she’s already looking forward to next year. Many felt the same, as both campers and counselors are left with this memorable week.
