Melinda Smith, a doctoral student in the Interdisciplinary Health program, was selected to participate in the Tribal Researchers’ Cancer Control Fellowship Program (TRCCFP).

Smith is a graduate research assistant for the Center for Health Equity Research in the Interdisciplinary Health doctoral program and a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.

Regional Needs and Assets Assessment Report Published

The NARBHA Institute and Northern Arizona Healthcare Foundation approached CHER in 2016 to conduct a comprehensive regional needs and assets assessment of health in northern Arizona. CHER has compiled and analyzed existing data and met with community members, leaders, and healthcare providers to understand what their priorities are and what resources they feel are most impactful in improving health across the region. Demographic Trends in Vigorous Physical Activity in College Students

CHER Assistant Research Professor, Dr. Emery Eaves, is first author on an upcoming article co-authored with Dr. Tim Behrens and colleagues. The article presents analysis of a large-scale survey of college students that shows relationships between meeting vigorous physical activity recommendations and key demographic, lifestyle, and personal characteristics.
