Mission:
OURCA will engage NAU’s diverse students in impactful research, scholarship, and creative activities to provide transformative learning opportunities, advance disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge, and contribute to solving relevant problems.
These activities will result in graduates who:
- are able to use critical thinking skills and information analysis in their decision-making processes
- understand the nature of research, investigation, and original work
- are prepared to utilize their disciplinary inquiry skills in their communities and workplaces
- progress in graduate and professional degree programs and establish careers in their disciplines
Strategic Goals:
- Include research, creative, and scholarly projects as a component of the curriculum in all degree programs
- Increase the number and diversity of students engaged in mentored research, creative, and scholarly experiences
- Contribute to the development of students’ critical thinking, information literacy, creativity, quantitative reasoning, scientific reasoning, and effective communication skills throughout their academic careers
- Increase the visibility of NAU as a leader in opportunities for all undergraduates to engage in research, creative, and scholarly activities
- Develop a community of accomplished teacher-scholars to provide high quality mentoring support for undergraduates
- Educate, support, and empower students from all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences to reach their full potential and contribute to a more just, equitable, inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable future
