Hello everyone and welcome back to our 24-25 edition of the Transfer Jacks blog! For this spooky October post, I would like to share some information regarding enrollment and spring classes, some general tips for your first few months, and dish out on our events for the month!
Enrollment
- General enrollment opens the 21st of October, however for specific dates you should schedule a meeting with your transfer mentor and look over those classes together (This can also be done by looking in Louie yourself!)
Withdraws
- 5 Week (A)- Oct 11th
- 5 Week (B)-Dec 2nd
- 16 Week- Dec 6th
Tips
- Set up a mentor meeting! Mentors are a great resource to help you around campus (appointments.nau.edu)
- Explore the NAU bus system. Great way to get around campus and some off campus locations too!
- Look through events on nau.campuslabs.com, different clubs, departments, and programs will have their events posted with all the information needed to attend.
- Some resources like the gym facilities at the HLC can be used at no charge (tuition fees), ask a mentor to find out more about resources available to you!
Events
- Kicking off National Transfer student week is Crafts and Connections! On the 21st, from 4-5:30pm at the Transfer Lounge.
- Next, on Tues the 22nd, we have Hybrid Bingo from 6-7pm (this will be held in conjunction with our online folks), so you can find it in person at the Transfer Lounge or through zoom link on True Blue Connects
- National Transfer Student Week Luncheon 11:30am-1:00pm held in the Transfer Lounge on the 23rd
- Finally, we have our Jacks-O-Painting from 3-5pm on the 24th, held at E. Starbucks Lawn! Come paint a pumpkin with us!
Advice
On a final note, I want to take some time to provide some advice that I wish I heard my first year around! Number one, USE THE BUS, the route 10 bus (the blue mountain lion) is available to all NAU students, simply show the driver your ID on any route 10 stop not on campus, it’s that simple! Most information on events, drives, and other special occasions are usually posted to campuslabs.nau.edu where you can see all associated information. Finally, as the autumn months approach, we should all be weary of the incoming cold weather! Stock up on essentials in case of a snow in and prepare your warmest of clothes and hottest of chocolate! Make sure to stay safe this Halloween season!
Remember to talk with your mentors, professors, and advisors either during or after midterm season if you aren’t happy with your performance to see what options are available to you! For more information and to reach your mentor, visit appointments.nau.edu and make an appointment with your mentor today!
