Mentoring for NAU transfer students

Transitioning to NAU from another college can be challenging. Our student mentors are here to help your transition go smoothly so you reach your goals at NAU faster. As part of our program, we’ll match you with a mentor within your same academic college, major/minor, or with a mentor who assists non-traditional students.

All of our mentors transferred to NAU, so they understand first-hand what it’s like. With over 20,000 students and 300+ clubs and organizations, your mentor will help you get involved on campus. You’ll meet once a month during your first semester with an experienced guide. If you have questions, our mentors have answers. Meet our mentors!

I wanted to thank you again for meeting with me yesterday. I am pleasantly surprised at how you are going to help me adjust and achieve my goals here. I feel a lot more confident in my ability to successfully transition now. – Erik

Events

One of the most important things about coming to NAU is getting connected with others at the university. We have a fun transfer community, and Transfer and Online Connections (TOC) hosts numerous events throughout the year—usually between one and four events per week. We offer on-campus events related to academics, scholarship workshops, and many more.

We also offer fun events like a Grand Canyon trip, tailgating, movies, grocery bingo, and more. Our weekly emails will keep you up-to-date on what’s happening with our events and other activities on campus.

Thanks to my mentor and everyone else at TOC, I have adjusted nicely. I keep running into people from the events which doesn’t make the campus feel so big. – Issa
