Jeanine Horio is a management major with a minor in public relations. She transferred to NAU in Fall 2019 from the University of Hawai’i at Hilo in Hilo, Hawai’i and is now a junior. Her anticipated graduation is Fall 2022.
Her two favorite accomplishments are receiving a 4.0 GPA my first semester at NAU and finding her passion in the business field again. She was initially a business major prior to transferring, was a Communication Studies major for a year, then found her way back to business.
She wanted to become a mentor to help other incoming transfers with a smooth transition to NAU.
“My mentor, Natosha Townsend, made my transition to NAU much easier than it probably would have been without her. I want to be able to be that resource and that go-to person for someone who could be having a difficult time with the transition.”
One piece of advice she would give to an incoming transfer student would be to get involved, whether it’s club sports, attending the events with TOC, joining a club or a sorority/fraternity, or applying for an on-campus job.
Fun fact: Jeanine spent a decade of her life dancing Hula and was in her middle school’s ‘ukulele band, who she also danced hula for, while dancing for the hula hālau (hula group/club) she was a part of.
