SES PhD student working with hunters to save California Condors
CBS news recently profiled SES PhD student Chris Parish, who leads California Condor conservation efforts for The Peregrine Fund. While a graduate student, Chris established a non-profit organization working with hunters to voluntarily reduce the use of lead ammunition, a major source of morbidity in condors that affects wildlife everywhere. SES geochemist Laura Wasylenki on a new study confirming the cause of end-Permian mass extinction

SES PhD student awarded Mineralogical Society of America research grant
PhD student Eva Baransky (Earth & Environmental Science) is one of two awardees nationwide of a Mineralogical Society of America Research Grant. Baransky applied for the grant in order to study what controls the amount of nickel dissolved in the world’s oceans.
