Led by Assistant Professor Dr. Sara Souther, a new $1.5 million NSF grant will focus on research with multiple Tribal nations to restore Emory oak ecosystems across Arizona. The five-year project “DISES: Restoration of a southwestern cultural keystone species: Integrating socio‐ecological systems to predict resilience of traditional acorn harvest by western Apache communities” also involves SES Co-PIs Clare Aslan and Diana Stuart, along with faculty from Biological Sciences and Forestry.
