Vaping and Novel Substance Research Group
Lab Director: Sumner Sydeman, Ph.D.
We study behaviors of young adults including different types of vaping and Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) device use. Our goal is to better understand measurement of ENDS use and correlates of use in young adults, such as ADHD and depression. We also study novel substances of abuse, such as vaporized alcohol and Molly (MDMA).

Cynthia Ortiz Accepted to Doctoral Program
Cynthia Ortiz graduated in December, 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychological Sciences, a minor in Spanish, and as a part of the Honors College. She was recognized as an Outstanding Senior in her last semester at NAU and was a member of the Vaping and Novel Substance Use Research Group under the direction of Sumner Sydeman, Ph.D. for several years before graduating.
