Application deadlines
The application deadline to receive priority for funding for assistantships is February 1. However, we will review applications on a rolling basis until April 1. Applications will not be accepted after the April 1 deadline.

The NAU graduate online application is required for all programs. Admission to many graduate programs is on a competitive basis, and programs may have higher standards than those established by the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies.
Admission requirements include the following:

- Transcripts

- Undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution with a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (“A” = 4.0), or the equivalent.

Additional Admission Requirements
Individual program admission requirements over and above admission to NAU are required.
- Three Letters of Recommendation
- Letters of recommendation should be submitted from persons who can attest to applicants’ individual and academic potential for success in a graduate program. Normally, at least two letters come from college-level instructors who can speak to applicants’ academic strengths and preparedness for completing a rigorous graduate program.
- Prerequisite(s) that must be completed prior to enrolling in the program:
- Minimum of 18 units of psychology credit including the following:
- Introduction to Psychology
- Statistics
- Research Methods in Psychology*
- Minimum of 18 units of psychology credit including the following:
*In some circumstances, Research Methods in Social/Behavioral Sciences may be accepted.
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae
- Personal Statement – In no more than 1000 words (i.e., 3 – 4 pages), submit a personal narrative on what applicants seek to pursue in a masters-level graduate program and how, specifically, the MA program at NAU helps to accomplish these goals. We are interested in what applicants seek to learn and achieve through NAU’s MA program and how they perceive completing the program will support their professional training.

Following review of your application materials, the department may request supplementary materials, such as writing samples, letters of recommendation from the referees indicated on your application. In addition, the department may request an interview via telephone or video conferencing.
