POS 316 students volunteered in the Student Union and encouraged other students to write thank you notes to Veterans. POS 316 students found a great way to celebrate the day and help others show their appreciation and respect for the many Veterans who've sacrificed their lives and so much more for our country and freedom.
As a final project, POS 316 students gained valuable experience by writing bills for a mock Arizona State Legislature. Students were split into committees, each committee drafted a bill, and then committees were able to present their proposals. Mayor Jerry Nabours, along with Joanne Keene and Stephanie Smith, visited with POS 303 students this afternoon and thanked them for conducting original research on the impact of moving the Homecoming parade to campus.
PIA would like to honor International Affairs student Austin Rock for his recent award from the Center for International Relations’ International Affairs Forum. Austin was awarded for his article “What Factors Have Perpetuated Instability in Yemen”. Austin has been studying Yemen since 2013, and this work grew out of research he did as a PIA student. We are very proud of you Austin! Keep up the great work!
Poloni-Staudinger signed a learning agreement grant with the Kettering Foundation. As part of the agreement, she will collaborate with the foundation to research democratic capacity-building associated with statewide issue forums. Poloni-Staudinger has been serving for the last year as statewide coordinator of Arizona Deliberates, a collaborative effort between Poloni-Staudinger at NAU and partners at Maricopa Community College District and Our Family Services, a non-profit in Pima County.
