Support future public service leaders
Since the establishment of Northern Arizona University’s MPA program 25 years ago, we have helped hundreds of students become leaders in government and non-profit agencies. Our students now work in Arizona, throughout the United States, and internationally, making a difference in all the communities they serve.
NAU’s MPA program matters to the future of our country and state as we continue training future public service administrators. Your gift today will contribute to our students’ success and change lives in our communities. We appreciate your support.
Public service and the spirit of Raul H. Castro
In 2008, NAU dedicated a college building as the Raul H. Castro Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) building to honor Raul H. Castro, who, in 1974, became Arizona’s only Latino governor and a national public servant. His career included numerous tours of duty as U.S. ambassador in El Salvador, Bolivia, and Argentina, South America. Before that, in 1939, Castro graduated from NAU’s predecessor institution, the Arizona State Teacher’s College in Flagstaff.
As Governor Doug Ducey said: Castro “was an honorable public servant, a history-maker, a beloved family man and a strong friend and fighter for Arizona. Whether as a county attorney, a superior court judge, a United States ambassador, or- as we will best remember him—our 14th governor, his life and legacy of service is forever ingrained in our history.” The Arizona Republic, azcentral.com, April 10, 2015.
