How to find your math placement test score
Your NAU Mathematics Placement Test score will be automatically added to your NAU records within approximately 24 hours after you complete the test. You can view your score in LOUIE under Test Results. Your score will be listed next to PMTC. Once your score is available on your NAU records, you will be able to enroll in the mathematics and statistics courses for which you are eligible.

Log into LOUIE and navigate to your student account.
The LOUIE Student Center includes information that is specific to your studies and student information at Northern Arizona University. When you login to LOUIE, you will see a page with your name on it in the LOUIE Student Center, similar to the one shown below which displays information specific to our sample student. This is theLOUIE Home page.
Click on the “other academic” drop down arrow, then select “Test Results”.
Next, you must then select the: Go / >> symbol to load the Test Results.
You will look for the MTHPLACE Test ID and the PMTC (1,2, or 3) Test Component.
NOTE: The PMTA and PMTB represent sub-score information and are NOT used for math placement.
In the sample below, you can see the student received a score of 25 on the Math Placement Test.
See the chart below to learn the math course placement that corresponds with the earned score from above. The sample student has placed into MAT 100.

How your score is used for placement Accordion Closed
Your Math Placement Test score is only one of the possible items used for determining your math placement at NAU. We use the highest math placement from among the following items:
You can receive math placement through:
- 4 years of appropriate high school math classes and grades (high school graduates Spring 2015 or later) earns placement into MAT 108, 114, or 150.
- ACT Math subscores of 24 or above (dated August 2012 or later) earns placement into MAT 108, 114, or 150 (and above, depending on score).
- SAT Math subscores of 570 or above (dated August 2012 or later) earns placement into MAT 108, 114, or 150 (and above, depending on score).
- AP Calculus exam scores of 3 or higher earns placement into Calculus classes (dependent on which exam is taken).
- College math courses taken at the Intermediate Algebra level allow students to earn math placement.

*Credit received through transferring College credit will not appear in Test Results.
