Maintaining J-1 status

Students must report any changes to their biographical, financial, and academic information. Change of address, change of degree level or major, and change in funding are some examples of the information that must be reported.

The following information must always be current in SEVIS:

1. current US address
   • For immigration reporting purposes, we need both physical and mailing addresses on file if they are different. New addresses must be reported within 10 days of the change. Students need to update their address in both iNAU and LOUIE. Changes include:
     • moves from one Northern Arizona University residence hall to another
     • moves from a residence hall to an address off-campus
     • moves from one off-campus address to another
     • room number and apartment number changes
     • temporary address changes
2. your current home country address
3. name changes
4. any change in your financial situation different from that on your DS-2019
5. your current phone number
6. other changes

Also remember to inform ISSS of any other changes that may affect your J-1 immigration status. These could include:

• the intent to withdraw from the university
• graduation
• change to another degree level
• change to another immigration status
• other changes that affect your J-1 status and may require SEVIS notification
