How to request an extension

J-1 immigration regulations require students to maintain a full course of study and make normal academic progress toward the completion of their degree program. If students are unable to complete their program requirements by the DS-2019 expiration date, an extension request must be submitted to ISSS through iNAU prior to your DS-2019 expiration date. Additional proof of finances is required to apply for an extension for the amount of time requested. Financial statements may not be more than 6 months old. Schedule an appointment with an ISSS international advisor to determine extension eligibility.

If NAU is not the DS-2019 sponsor, students are required to contact their sponsor and request an extension.
