The inaugural Northern Arizona Disability Resource Fair took place at the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff, AZ on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Developed in response to community requests, the Fair was hosted by the Northern Arizona University’s Institute for Human Development and Care 4 the Caregivers in collaboration with High Country Adaptive Sports and United Way of Northern Arizona.
The event featured a vibrant event hall with 35 exhibitors representing a wide range of local disability resources and supports, including service providers, non-profit organizations, assistive technology companies, and local, state, and governmental agencies. The Fair also featured networking opportunities for participants and family-friendly inclusive activities, refreshments, and door prizes – including make-and-take workshops, raffle drawings, bingo cards, sticker mania, and more. Admission and parking were free to the public.
The event drew 169 individuals, with attendees coming from Coconino, Apache, Navajo, and Yavapai counties. Feedback from both attendees and exhibitors was very positive, with comments such as “it was awesome. I enjoyed this Fair” and “welcoming atmosphere; amazing resources; gave me hope.”
Based on the success of the 2024 Northern Arizona Disability Resource Fair, the team already working on plans for the 2025 Northern Arizona Disability Resource Fair. Look for more information to come out shortly.
