What is the ASC? Accordion Closed
ASC stands for the Academic Success Center. The Academic Success Center is located in the Union Fieldhouse and the du Bois Center. You can find tutoring for many business courses at the ASC. Check out their website for more information.
How do I get into a course that is full? Accordion Closed
Wait lists allow degree seeking students to place themselves on a list if a section’s enrollment capacity is already full. When seats become available the process will automatically enroll students from the wait list into that closed class section. Visit the Registrar’s FAQ page on the waitlist for more information.
How and when do I apply for the Business Programs? Accordion Closed
You can apply to the Business Analytics Program (BAP) or the Business Professional Program (BPP) after you have attended the required number of pathway events (check with the OAS on how many you need) and are in the process of completing the last of the required lower division business courses. You can find the application and additional information here.
Students studying Hotel & Restaurant Management do not have an application program.
How do I make an appointment? Accordion Closed

Please note:
- Plan ahead! We often cannot accommodate same day advising appointments.
- If you have an urgent question, please email fcboas@nau.edu with detailed information and an advisor will respond as soon as possible. Keep in mind that an email will not take the place of an advising appointment. We will not remove an advising hold without a scheduled appointment.
- During the first 2 weeks of the semester, advising is available on a first come, first served basis and for brief appointments only.
- You must provide a picture ID before meeting with an advisor.
How and when do I apply for graduation? Accordion Closed
You have to apply the semester before your planned graduation. If you graduate in May you will have to apply for the previous fall semester. If you graduate in December, you will have to apply the previous spring. You can find more information here.
How many pathways do I need to attend and by when? Where do I find the calendar? Accordion Closed
Business Majors are required to attend 6 pathways in order to be admitted into the Business Analytics Programs or the Business Professional Program. Students who transferred an Associate in Business Degree from a community college need to attend 4 pathways. Please contact your FCB advisor to verify how many pathways you will need to attend.
Hotel & Restaurant Management Majors are required to complete 8 Pathways- 4 need to be completed prior to HA 315W and all 8 need to be completed prior to HA 490C enrollment
You can view upcoming Pathways events through the “Suitable” application that you can download on to your phone.
When is the last day to drop a course? Accordion Closed
Please check the Registrar’s calendar for important deadlines.
Where can I get my official transcript? Accordion Closed
You can order an official transcript on the Registrar’s website. You can find and print your unofficial transcript by selecting Unofficial Transcript from the Other Academic drop-down list in LOUIE.
Who is my advisor? Accordion Closed
Once you have completed at least 24 units, your advisor will be in the Office of Advising and Academic Support (OAS) at The W. A. Franke College of Business. You can find your assigned advisor on your Student Center in LOUIE or you can check with the front desk staff in the OAS.
When is my early enrollment date? Accordion Closed
You can find your enrollment date in your Student Center on LOUIE. It is determined by the Registrar’s Office and is assigned based on the number of completed and recorded credits.
How do I get my advising hold removed? Accordion Closed
Students who have advising holds MUST meet with an advisor before this hold is removed. Generally advising holds will prevent students from enrolling in courses for the next term.
What is grade replacement? Accordion Closed
If you repeat a course in which you earned a “D” or “F”, the original grade will be replaced with the new grade. The new grade will be used to calculate your GPA. The original course and grade will remain on your transcripts but will no longer be used to calculate your GPA.
Enrollment has begun and I can’t enroll in my classes. Accordion Closed
The two most common reasons are:
- A hold on your account (Please see the Advising Questions for information on how to clear holds)
- Not your scheduled time to enroll. The enrollment times are based on units completed. This does not include current coursework or courses which are in the process of being transferred.
How do I find internship or job opportunities? Accordion Closed
For Business internships or job opportunities, visit the W.A. Franke Career Development Office (CDO).
For HRM internships or job opportunities, visit the HRM Job & Internship Network.
The writing center won’t read my paper for Business. Who do I go to? Accordion Closed
The FCB has an in-house writing center that can help. Visit the Business Communication Center (BCC).
I need to print papers, but I’m too far from the Library or need other resources, but can’t make it to the Bookstore in time. Who do I go to? Accordion Closed
The Student Support Services office can help with printing and supply needs. They are located on the second floor of the FCB in room #229.
My teacher has a class packet instead of a textbook. Where do I get that? Accordion Closed
Teachers will often have their class packets printed in the Student Support Services office. They are located on the second floor of the FCB in room #229.
What if I can’t figure out LOUIE, how to read my academic requirements or other logistical issues? Accordion Closed
The FCB Student Ambassadors would be more than willing to help show you how to navigate LOUIE.
What are Pathways and where do I check my attendance? Accordion Closed
Pathways are required seminars, workshops, discussions, and events for the student’s professional development. You can check your attendance through the “Suitable” application.

Can I test out of my Business classes? Accordion Closed
There are no “test out” options for Business classes.
How many extra classes are there for a double major? Accordion Closed
Double majoring requires you to complete all major requirements for both majors so the number of classes may vary. If you are majoring in a Business major already and want to add a different business major, it could only be 6-8 additional courses needed. Please work with your advisor.
How many extra classes are there for a certificate? Accordion Closed
Completing a certificate requires a student to complete 5 classes. Students may take anywhere from 2-5 classes extra classes for a certificate. Please work with your advisor.
What if I don’t attend my Pathways? Accordion Closed
For Business Students: You will not be accepted into the Professional Program without the 6 completed Pathways which will delay your graduation timeline.
For HRM Students: You will not be able to enroll in the required HA 315W or HA 490C classes which will delay your graduation timeline.
My friend took this class back in California and it transferred here as a business-required class. Can’t I just take it without petitioning? Accordion Closed
No, some classes are accepted on a one-time, one-student basis. Students should always contact the department and be ready to provide a syllabus for approval.
What is the quickest route that I can get done with my program? Accordion Closed
In order to accelerate your timeline, it is recommended that you take winter and summer courses in addition to the typical spring and fall loads. Please work with your advisor to outline a plan that works best for you.
