High School MUN conference

Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Community Members

It is my great honor to invite you to NAU Model UN's first Flagstaff High School Model United Nations Conference on April 26, 2014. Together with the help of BASIS Flagstaff and NAU, we are hosting a high school conference in order to not only increase awareness of global issues within the local Arizona high schools but strengthen an important partnership between the collegiate level of Model UN and the growing high school clubs. All arizona and regional high schools are invited and welcome to attend this conference. Please register before February 28 in order to ensure all the necessary preparation and planning to host this conference will go smoothly.
Flagstaff Model United Nations Conference will have 3 distinct and exciting committees. The largest committee will be the General Assembly Plenary committee. In this General Assembly, delegates will be discussing the issue of the expiration of the Millennium Development Goals in 2015. The second committee will be the Security Council discussing the issue of the Syrian Ceasefire. With the civil war entering its fourth year, delegates will have to debate on whether or not to call for a ceasefire to help end this bloody war. The third committee will be a historical crisis committee where delegates will attempt to avoid World War 1 in honor if its 100 year anniversary. This committee will be incredibly fast pace and could result in changing history textbooks.
NAU Model UN is incredibly excited to see Arizona come together and compete in the first annual Flagstaff Model United Nations High School Conference. Please feel free to email the Secretary General at jmk322@nau.edu if you have any questions regarding information, logistics, or anything about the conference.
Thank you,
John Kelly
President
