Summer 2023 Continuing Education Series

The Northern Arizona University Physical Therapy Alumni Association (NAU PTAC) is a group of NAU alumni who function with the purpose of uniting alumni and current students throughout the year.

With our two lecture series, we are able to provide our alumni with continuing education opportunities as well as raise funds to provide current students with scholarship opportunities.

COURSE 1: Let the Gains Begin:  Techniques to promote the acquisition of skilled movement required for optimal performance

The course will teach exercise fundamentals with applications to neurological and orthopedic impairments focusing on improving manual skills to achieve desired outcomes. The participant will complete 2 hours of online training prior to attending.

This is a lab intensive course. Faculty to participant ratio will not exceed 1:10.

Upon completion the participant will

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of extremity & trunk movement patterns
  • Demonstrate the ability to select and apply exercise techniques to treatment for patients with a variety of diagnoses
  • Understand functional movement with application to patient treatment
  • Apply principles of motor learning to enhance treatment outcomes
  • Perform techniques to strengthen motor activation

PROGRAM INFORMATION

June 10-11, 2023

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m

Early registration is strongly encouraged as enrollment is limited to maintain an effective faculty to participant ratio.

TUITION

-NAU Students: Free (space is limited)

-NAU Associated Clinicians: $200.00

-Clinicians who are non-affiliated NAU alumni or instructors: $300

Cancellations must be received at least 7 days prior to the course for a 90 percent refund.

COURSE 2: Back, Neck, Shoulder, Hip, Knee, Ankle:  PNF based orthopedic techniques to expedite your patients return to function
