Mission & goals

The Department of Educational Leadership is honored to advance the NAU strategic plan outlined by President Cruz Rivera. We invite you to learn about the goals of Elevating Excellence here.

The College of Education at Northern Arizona University embraces its mission to prepare competent and committed professionals who are equipped to make positive differences for children, students, and adults in educational settings and communities. Through active interchange among students, staff, faculty, alumni, and stakeholders, we will form solutions that address university and college strategic goals in a compassionate, inclusive, and diverse environment.

EDL is a department for educators, by educators. Our programs and initiatives are relational, relevant, and responsive to the place-based needs of the communities we are called to serve.

As leaders, we believe in showing up as empathetic, inspirational, student-centered professionals and people who strive to create opportunities for transformative relationships, learning, and educational systems.

In the Department of Educational Leadership, we prepare and support educational leaders who think like scholars, engage their diverse communities in authentic ways, and transform learning environments so every student thrives.
