The 2019-2020 COE Scholarships Application is now closed. Applicants can expect to hear from the Scholarships Committee regarding whether they were selected for an award in early-to-mid-June 2019.The 2020-2021 application will open in January 2020.

Undergraduate scholarships

Scholarships for undergraduate students in NAU’s College of Education

Northern Arizona University students who are working towards their undergraduate degree within the College of Education are encouraged to apply for these educational scholarships to help offset the cost of tuition. Each scholarship has its own set of criteria to meet for eligibility.

If an award requires full-time status, note that full-time status is 12 credit hours for undergraduate students and 9 credit hours for graduate students per awarded semester.

 

Educational scholarships available for COE undergraduate students

Alpha Delta Kappa Future Educator Scholarship- NAU mountain campus Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. be enrolled full-time at the Northern Arizona University mountain campus
  2. be a student in good standing in the field of education (GPA 3.0)
  3. have completed at least junior year of studies
  4. have career plans to become an educator
  5. preference will be given to students during term of student teaching

Alpha Delta Kappa Future Educator Scholarship- NAU Yuma campus Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. be enrolled full-time at the Northern Arizona University Yuma campus
  2. be a student in good standing in the field of Education (GPA 3.0)
  3. have completed at least junior year of studies
  4. have career plans to become an educator
  5. preference will be given to students during term of student teaching

Alpha Delta Kappa Pi Chapter Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. Must be student teaching in Flagstaff at the time of the scholarship award

Lillian Jane Baker Teacher Education Fund Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. the recipient must be enrolled in the College of Education
  2. must be a junior or senior
  3. must have selected elementary level or early childhood teaching as their intended career

Silverio T. Barreras Scholarship Accordion Closed

This fund shall be used to provide scholarships to support full-time undergraduate students at NAU who meet the following criteria:
  1. student must be a graduate of Miami High School, Miami, Arizona

After meeting the above criteria, the Founder’s preferences in awarding the scholarship are as follows, in order of priority:

  1. To an undergraduate student pursuing a major in elementary or secondary education through the NAU Teacher Preparation Program
  2. To an undergraduate student majoring in any discipline at Northern Arizona University
  3. To a graduate student enrolled in the College of Education who is or will be working in Miami or Globe schools. Awards to graduate students will be set at $1,000 annually.

Anne Tracy Bolton and Michael Edward Bolton Education Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. legal resident of the United States of America
  2. enrolled as an undergraduate student in the College of Education at Northern Arizona University
  3. preference for a full-time undergraduate student at the mountain campus in Flagstaff, Arizona
  4. achieve and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  5. demonstrate financial need

Margaret Hall Clements Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. junior or senior standing
  2. minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
  3. education major
  4. financial need is NOT required
  5. selected on merit or academic potential

Delta Kappa Gamma/Virginia Coffey Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. preference shall be given to women who come from the geographical area close to Sun City
  2. majoring in education
  3. junior or senior standing
  4. minimum GPA of 3.0
  5. financial need documented through the Northern Arizona University Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid

Doris C. Dunford Memorial Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. first year students who graduated from a Flagstaff area high school with a declared interest in becoming a teacher in any field and enrolled in the pre-education major
  2. the recipient should demonstrate interest and ability to succeed both in the classroom and the community
  3. minimum GPA of 3.0
  4. financial need is not a consideration
  5. if the student continues progress toward becoming a teacher, he/she will be awarded this scholarship annually for four years; if the student does not uphold these standards, the scholarship will be awarded to another first year student

Lacey A. Eastburn Memorial Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. must be a full-time student (12 credit hours or more)
  2. admitted to the Teacher Education Program
  3. must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  4. must be a U.S. citizen

Charles Fauset Teacher Education Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. must be a senior or fifth year student
  2. admitted into the Teacher Education Program
  3. resident of the state of Arizona
  4. minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  5. financial need as determined by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid is a primary consideration

WA Franke Scholars Program in the College of Education Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. COE students conducting their student teaching semester
  2. Demonstrated financial need (including not already receiving significant aid such as the Lumberjack Scholarship)
  3. First-generation student
  4. Traditionally underrepresented students

Dr. Claudette Bonjean Gronski Scholarship in Education Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. Arizona resident
  2. U.S. citizen
  3. majoring in Elementary Education (K-8)
  4. demonstrate academic excellence with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  5. demonstrate financial need to fulfill student teaching requirements
  6. demonstrate past and present community service

Drs. Margaret A. (Cibik) Hughes & Eugene M. Hughes College of Education Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. undergraduate student, at the sophomore level or above, enrolled in the College of Education
  2. minimum grade point average at the university level of 3.0
  3. meets or exceeds, each academic year, the academic progress standards used by the government for students receiving federal grants/aid
  4. renewable for a maximum of three years if the award begins at the sophomore level, and/or pro-rated thereafter if initially awarded to a student above the sophomore level, i.e., renewal for two years if awarded for the junior level or one year if awarded to a senior
  5. preference will be given to students who have not received other scholarships or gift aid (with the exception of a federal grant)

Richard Kauzlaric Memorial Education Scholarship Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. Enrolled in the College of Education, majoring in Elementary Education
  2. Full-time undergraduate student at the mountain campus in Flagstaff, AZ
  3. Scheduled to complete student teaching during one semester within the upcoming academic year
  4. Demonstrates financial need to fulfill student teaching requirements
  5. Demonstrates past and present community service
Note: junior standing is for a student who will be a junior the year of the award, or is a junior at the time of the award (making them senior when they receive the award)

Requirements:
  1. education major

  4. goal toward a teaching career
  5. if applicable, any determination of financial need must be made by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid

Carol Lorek Scholarship to Support Student Teacher Excellence Accordion Closed

Requirements:
  1. awarded to a first generation university student
  2. enrolled as an undergraduate student in the College of Education at the Northern Arizona University mountain campus
  3. demonstrated academic excellence with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or above (where A = 4.0)
  4. demonstrated financial need
  5. earmarked for a student during his/her student teaching experience
  6. two $500 scholarships per academic year, one for each semester, fall and spring, and to a different student each semester
