Labs

NAU’s College of Education has many labs open for faculty and student use

Explore the many options available for both faculty instructional and student use, open to those affiliated with the College of Education.

Labs in COE on campus in Flagstaff include:

Curriculum Lab Accordion Closed

The College of Education’s Curriculum Lab provides educational materials and resources to university students and faculty. We offer a wide array of professional literature on topics varying from counseling to whole language instruction.

The Curriculum Lab is closed during summer break. Some of our other resources include:

  • textbooks for various subjects and grades
  • children’s and juvenile literature

To access these materials, you need a Northern Arizona University student ID. You can check out up to seven materials for eight days.

Practicum Clinic Accordion Closed

Free counseling is available for Northern Arizona University students and members of the community.  Graduate students in the Department of Educational Psychology training programs provide counseling under the supervision of licensed counseling faculty.  Counseling can be done in person at the location below or via Zoom

Hours:

Our Fall 2022 hours are Monday-Wednesday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Thursday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Check back for Spring 2023 hours at the start of the semester

The Practicum Clinic facilities consist of:

  • an administrative office which handles scheduling and materials distribution
  • six clinical rooms designed for individual testing, personal counseling, and tutoring
  • two larger “conference” rooms for group counseling
  • supervision/observational rooms which allows faculty members to provide live, “bug-in-the-ear” supervision to students while they counsel, test and conference
  • each clinical room is also equipped with a webcam that feeds to an encrypted server, and allows for immediate or post-session supervision

Test Clinic Accordion Closed

A variety of tests—intelligence, vocational development, personality, achievement, and language—are available for qualified students and faculty to check out.

Protocols are available for purchase by qualified individuals. Purchases are made by using the Northern Arizona University JacksCard by depositing money on students’ JDE account.

Hybrid Mac/PC Teaching Lab Accordion Closed

This computer lab is assigned as a teaching lab for all ETC undergraduate classes, but is open to education students when classes are not being held.

Eastburn Education Building, Room 189

Note: This room is scheduled primarily as a teaching classroom for education-only technology courses. When not in use by Professors, it is an open lab available to NAU students. The lab is made up of 24 dual-boot iMac computers. Logins require Dana or Jan accounts.

Hours:

Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Open to all education students during non-class times—contact the lab administrator to learn about availability.

  • one teacher dual-boot Intel iMac station with Smart E70 TV
  • one HP 8150 printer (pages printed cost 10¢ per page which is billed to your bursar account)

MAC Teaching Lab Accordion Closed

The lab is made up of 26 Apple iMacs and one teacher station with an Apple iMac. All members of the NAU community can log in with their NAU ID.

PC Lounge Lab Accordion Closed

The Lounge is located upstairs on the second floor. The lab consists of 9 Dell 380s. Logins require a Dana or Jan account.
