Doctor of Physical Therapy
NAU’s DPT Program is nationally recognized as a leader in physical therapist education. Degrees are offered through a residential or hybrid format, and they are designed to meet the needs of all students applying to physical therapy programs. NAU’s Residential DPT programs are located at the Flagstaff Mountain and Phoenix Biosciences Core (PBC) campuses. NAU’s Hybrid DPT program offers instruction delivered synchronously and asynchronously via online modalities with periodic travel to one of NAU’s campuses for rich, immersive, in-person learning experiences. NAU’s programs follow a competency and entrustment-based education model, and they are designed for completion in 25 months.

NAU DPT state licensure information
The program has determined that its curriculum meets the state educational requirements for licensure or certification in all states, the District of Colombia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands secondary to its accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, based on the following:
CAPTE accreditation of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant program satisfies state educational requirements in all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Thus, students graduating from CAPTE-accredited physical therapist and physical therapist assistant education programs are eligible to take the National Physical Therapy Examination and apply for licensure in all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
