Dr. Richard W. Carroll is the Executive Director of the institute for Human Development at Northern Arizona University. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of San Francisco and his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Arizona, with a major emphasis in developmental psychology and a minor in special education. Since coming to the Institute as its director in 1980, he has authored and served as the principle investigator/director of the majority of the Institute's numerous research and training grants. Dr. Carroll holds the academic rank of Associate Professor of Psychology and he is a recipient of Northern Arizona University's Distinguished Faculty Award. Over the past 23 years he has held leadership positions on several state and national committees or councils focusing on policy development and improved services for individuals with disabilities.
