Amy Grey

Amy has been with the Institute for Human Development since 1999. She has been principally involved with the SELECT program for that period of time, serving as project coordinator since 2000. SELECT is a federally funded program sponsored by the Arizona Department of Education. This program addresses the statewide shortages of special education teachers. The primary emphasis of SELECT is coursework for teachers working on emergency special education certification. SELECT classes also fulfill re-certification requirements for regular and special education teachers and also provide special education training for people who want to expand their skills in working with children with disabilities. SELECT courses are graduate level, equivalent to state college and university courses, with one added advantage. The SELECT program offers its classes outside of a degree program, allowing individuals access to the same classes statewide, without the necessity to commit the time and resources required in a degree program.
