Get ahead, catch up, or stay on track
With multiple start dates and hundreds of courses available, you can make extra progress toward your degree or simply learn something new this summer.
Benefits of summer term
Summer courses are a smart option for students who want to get the most out of their university experience. Some advantages of summer courses include:
- getting ahead on major requirements
- knocking out prerequisites or liberal studies
- improving your GPA
- having more time to study
- balancing out the course load you have planned for this academic year
Most summer courses are available online, so you can be in class from anywhere. The course list is subject to change, and current students can view the most up-to-date information on available courses in LOUIE. Full course descriptions are listed on LOUIE and in the Academic Catalog.
To enroll in a for-credit summer course, you must apply and be admitted to NAU.

The academic colleges at NAU may also offer unique support resources. Once you’re enrolled, be sure to communicate regularly with your professor and get to know your classmates.
