Dr. Yaqub surveys the evolution of U.S. policy in the Middle East, beginning in 1967. He focuses especially on squandered opportunities to achieve a viable settlement of the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.
Dr. Salim Yaqub is a professor of history at UC-Santa Barbara whose publications include the books Containing Arab Nationalism: The Eisenhower Doctrine and the Middle East (2004) and Imperfect Strangers: Americans, Arabs, and U.S.–Middle East Relations in the 1970s (2016).
