Inclusivity and Equity in the School of Forestry
The School of Forestry is committed to a culture of inclusivity and belonging. Everyone deserves opportunities to engage meaningfully in learning and research. Read more about our behavior expectations and standards for program and field experiences here.
Community and connection
Organizations like the NAU SACNAS Chapter and AISES can connect you with other students who share your background, culture, and interests. This community of undergraduates and graduate students come from a truly diverse range of experiences in STEM. They may also be able to help you find other on-campus organizations and even funding opportunities!
NAU’s Lumberjack CARE Center is a resource that supports students with essential needs (food, housing, childcare, etc.), mental health and advocacy. It is completely free for students!
The School of Forestry partners with the Office of Inclusion and IMQ Center to build belonging. IMQ is a great place to meet students like you and engage in active allyship.
Extracurricular activities are a great way to develop community and career skills. Check out the School of Forestry’s organizations and clubs.
Career development
Check out the CEFNS Career Development web page for information on internships and paid opportunities for Forestry students, and don’t forget to keep an eye on Handshake. The School of Forestry Student Success Team can also help guide your search. We’d love to hear from you!
The School of Forestry is proud to host and participate in career and internship fairs throughout the school year. Information about these events will be posted on Handshake and sent out via email.

The School of Forestry has received a Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Education Grant from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. This grant works to enhance the cultural responsiveness of forestry education and develop cohorts of undergraduates that expand Hispanic and diversity representation in forestry education. To learn more about this opportunity, watch this video and reach out to the Student Success Team.
