Steps before you arrive

Contact your roommates

To find your roommate’s email, return to your application status page in the Housing Portal. Select “View Details” next to your roommate under the occupancy section of the page. Your roommate’s NAU e-mail address will be shown in that window along with their personal bio and answers to their roommate questionnaire. Send your roommate an e-mail to introduce yourself and start comparing notes on what you plan to bring.

Check your NAU e-mail regularly as your roommate(s) may have already sent you a message. If you do not have a room assignment or roommate listed, check back again in August.

Obtain your JacksCard

Your JacksCard student ID is used to access your campus living community's exterior doors, which are locked 24/7. Visit JacksCard to learn more about your official identification card and how to submit your photo.

Read the Campus Living Community Policies

Policies and expectations are established for all students residing in campus living communities and are important for you to understand before arriving to campus.

Learn how to get around campus

Transportation across campus is easy with our shuttles and bike programs to help you get where you need to go. Need a parking permit? Explore parking options for more information.

Protect your property with renters insurance

Students living on campus are encouraged to obtain renters insurance and are actually one of the largest groups using this type of insurance.

Students can purchase a policy while living on campus and should confirm with their insurance agent what is covered. If the student is a dependent under a parent’s policy, coverage may not extend to on‑campus housing, so parents should review their policy or consult their agent for details.
