MA in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language: Applied Linguistics Track
The Applied Linguistics track in NAU’s MA in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language program covers a blend of theoretical and practical issues, ranging from linguistics to ESL methodology. In addition, you will have the opportunity for a one-semester supervised teaching experience.

All MA in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language students take Foundations of Language Teaching and Learning, Grammatical Foundations, Introduction to Linguistics, and Sociolinguistics.
In the Applied Linguistics emphasis, you will take four electives, two of which must be graduate Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language courses.
Outcomes
One goal of this track is to prepare students for Ph.D.-level study in applied linguistics.
