Mentoring services in the Arizona Teachers Academy

At the Arizona K–12 Center, we are here to support you

We understand teaching is a tough job and the first year can be daunting. The Arizona K12 Center provides a free, trained mentor to all graduates of the Arizona Teachers Academy at NAU in their first year of teaching. Mentors serve in a non-evaluative role through regular classroom visits. Their sole purpose is to help you grow and strengthen your practice.

About us

Since 1999, the Arizona K–12 Center has focused on strengthening and growing the teaching profession by providing high–quality professional learning opportunities. The Center is the home of the Arizona Teacher Program where we support the newest members of the teaching profession through mentoring, guide experienced teachers as they pursue National Board Certification, and develop the skills and knowledge of Arizona’s teacher leaders.

“My mentor was a godsend in my first two years of teaching. I am so thankful to have worked with her. She challenged me by pushing me outside of my comfort zone while also celebrating things happening in my classroom. I will be forever thankful for her!”
– Joy Hallett, NAU Alumna ’16

More support

In addition to a mentor, the Arizona K–12 Center has a discounted rate for professional development opportunities geared toward new teachers.
